Terms of service
Effective 22 October 2026 · terms · privacy · refunds
Plain-language terms for using Swish: what it does, how credits and plans work, how sponsored lines and advertisers work, and what we both promise.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Swish ("Swish", "we", "us") is a writing companion for macOS: a Mac app, a website, and a cloud service that fixes spelling and grammar and rewrites text using artificial intelligence. These terms are the agreement between you and [Company legal name] when you download or use the app, create an account, buy credits or a plan, or advertise on Swish. If you use Swish for an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
Please read these terms together with our privacy policy and refund policy. If you do not agree, do not use Swish.
2. Using the app
Swish works when you press your shortcut. It reads the text you choose (the selection, or the whole box when nothing is selected), shows a small animation, and replaces the text. It needs macOS 13 or newer and two permissions you grant on your Mac: Accessibility (to read and replace text) and, optionally, Screen Recording (only to find where your words are on screen so the glow lines up).
- You may use Swish for personal or business writing, for yourself and your own devices.
- Swish never reads password fields, never types into terminals, and refuses read-only text. It may decline to act where it cannot do so safely.
- You can undo the last change with four taps or the undo shortcut of the app you are using.
- You are responsible for checking important text before you send or publish it. See section 9.
3. Your content
Your text stays yours. You give us a limited licence to process the text you choose to fix or rewrite, solely to produce the result you asked for and to run, secure and improve the service in aggregate. We do not store your text after the request is answered, we do not use it to train models, and we do not show it to advertisers or other users. Details are in the privacy policy.
You promise that you have the right to process the text you send, and that it does not break the law or anyone else's rights. Do not use Swish to send content that is illegal, or to generate content designed to deceive, harass or harm.
4. Accounts and linking your Mac
The free tier needs no account: your Mac is identified by a random device identifier. An account is needed to buy credits or a plan, to use your credits on more than one Mac, or to advertise. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for activity on your account. Your plan states how many Macs you may link. We may suspend accounts that share access beyond that or that abuse the service.
5. Credits, plans and limits
AI actions use credits. As a guide, one credit is about 1,000 characters rewritten or about 5,000 characters fixed with AI; the exact rates, the daily free allowance, plan sizes and prices are shown on the pricing section and in your account.
- Free includes a daily allowance that resets at 00:00 UTC and does not roll over. Fixing without AI on your Mac is not limited.
- Subscriptions include monthly credits that do not roll over and remove sponsored lines.
- Credit packs are valid for 12 months from purchase and may be used on any plan.
- We apply credits from the free allowance first, then your plan, then packs.
- Limits exist to keep the service fast and fair, and to stop abuse. If you reach a limit, Fix keeps working with the on-device fixer.
We may change plans, prices, allowances and limits. We will post the change on this site and, for paid plans, give notice before it affects your next renewal. A change never reduces credits you have already paid for.
6. Payments, renewals and cancellation
Payments are processed by our payment provider, Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record: it collects the price, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues your receipt. Prices are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew each month until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and your plan stays active until the end of the paid period. See the refund policy for refunds.
If a payment fails we may pause the paid features until it is fixed. We never see your full card number.
7. Sponsored lines and advertisers
The free plan shows at most one small line that is clearly labelled sponsored, in the rewrite picker. It never covers your text or controls, never appears on errors, and never receives your text: the request carries only the placement, your language and a coarse app category (such as chat, mail, docs or code). Paid plans do not show sponsored lines.
Advertisers create a campaign, fund a prepaid wallet and bid per thousand views in a second-price auction: the winner pays one cent more than the next-highest bid (never more than their maximum, never below the floor price). A view is billed only after the line has been on screen for about a second. We review every campaign before it can run and may reject, pause or remove any campaign, for example if it is misleading, unlawful, offensive, or about prohibited products. Rejected campaigns are not charged. Clicks go through our link so they can be counted. Unspent wallet balance can be refunded as described in the refund policy.
8. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to break, probe or overload the service, to bypass limits, or to forge device identifiers.
- Do not resell, rent or white-label Swish without our written permission.
- Do not use Swish to process content you have no right to use, or to produce unlawful content.
- Do not reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it despite this term.
We may limit or end access for breaches of these terms, and will tell you why where we can.
9. Availability and AI limits
Swish depends on your Mac, your apps, the network and third-party AI models. We try to keep the service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. AI can make mistakes: it may misunderstand, omit or change meaning. Always read the result of an important message before you send it. Some apps do not allow reliable editing; Swish then tells you instead of guessing.
10. Warranty and liability
Swish is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim all other warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to Swish is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, for free users, to USD 50). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.
11. Intellectual property
Swish, its design, animation, name and software belong to us and our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to these terms. The text you write, and the text Swish returns to you, may be used by you freely.
12. Changes, ending and the rest
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its effective date. If a change is material we will tell you in the app or by email. You may stop using Swish at any time, and delete your account by writing to us. Sections that by their nature should survive (payments owed, liability, intellectual property) survive ending.
These terms are governed by the laws of [country/state], and the courts of [city] have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring claims where you live. If a part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms and the policies they refer to are the whole agreement between us about Swish.
